What LS Central for hospitality is

LS Central is LS Retail's software for retail and hospitality, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. For hospitality, LS Retail markets it as LS Central for restaurants and LS Central for hotels. It covers cafés, bars, quick service and full-service restaurants, food halls, cafeterias, hotels and resorts.

The point of sale, the kitchen, the table plan, recipes and stock, loyalty and, for hotels, the front desk all work on the same data as finance and purchasing in Business Central. A sale at the counter deducts the recipe's ingredients from stock, and the sale lands in the same Business Central database as the ledger.

The solution is modular. A café chain may need POS, kitchen and loyalty only; a resort may add rooms, spa bookings and retail shops. LS Retail also offers it connected to another ERP through CentralConnect, though our work is on Business Central.

What the solution covers

As published by LS Retail. Which of these you use, and how, is decided in the fit-gap phase for your outlets and your countries.

  • POS on the device you choose

Point of sale on a computer, tablet, fixed POS hardware, a handheld device or a self-ordering kiosk, mixed within one outlet.

  • Orders from every channel

Guests order at the table, at a kiosk or by scanning a QR code, or online through your website or app for takeaway and delivery.

  • Kitchen routing

Orders sent to kitchen display screens or kitchen printers by station and in sequence, with order times monitored live. The kitchen display also runs in a web browser.

  • Allergens and dietary notes

Allergen and dietary information on menu items passed to the kitchen with the order.

  • Tables and reservations

Tables assigned by hand or automatically, free tables shown live, a waitlist, and reservations taken online, by phone or at the POS through Bookings for LS Central.

  • Service at the table

Bills split between guests, orders moved between tables and sections, checks combined, and tips and service charges managed.

  • Recipes and stock

Recipes linked to the menu, so ingredients are deducted from stock when an item is sold, with stock tracked across locations and replenishment automated.

  • Central menus and prices

Menus, prices and promotions maintained in one place and applied to POS, kiosks, digital menus and online ordering.

  • Loyalty and promotions

Membership tiers, points and personalised rewards, plus happy hours, vouchers, bundles and prices by location or time of day.

  • Hotel front desk

Room reservations from the front desk, the website and third-party channels, rates and allotments, check-in and check-out, and housekeeping status shared with reception.

  • Guest accounts

Deposits and prepayments applied at checkout, split payments for groups, and charges from outlets posted to the guest's account.

  • Reporting

Sales, waste, menu profitability and food cost by period, location or employee through Analytics for LS Central, built on Power BI.

Retail and hospitality in one system

Many groups do not run only restaurants. A mall operator has shops and a food court, a hotel has outlets, a spa and a gift shop, a café chain sells packaged coffee next to the counter. LS Retail positions LS Central as one platform for hospitality, hotel, retail and event businesses, and publishes Blue Lagoon in Iceland as an example: two hotels, a spa, four restaurants, four retail stores and an online store on LS Central.

For the group, that means one item master, one loyalty programme across shops and outlets, and one set of figures in Business Central.

In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, UAE VAT and ZATCA e-invoicing are configured in Business Central, the finance layer LS Central posts to. More on each market: LS Central in the UAE · LS Central in Saudi Arabia

Questions to answer before you start

  • Which outlet types: table service, counter, kiosks, delivery, rooms?
  • Do you also run retail shops, and should they share stock and loyalty?
  • Which POS, kitchen display and printer hardware does each outlet need?
  • Which outlets must keep trading without a connection?
  • Do you need a hotel front desk, or does an existing system stay?
  • Which countries, and which VAT and e-invoicing rules apply in each?

How we implement it

The same five stages as every implementation we run, with a pilot outlet before the group goes live.

  1. Discovery and fit-gap

How each outlet sells today: table service or counter, kiosks, delivery, rooms and activities. We record the tax and e-invoicing rules for each country and name every gap before anything is built.

  2. Solution design

Which LS Central parts you need (restaurants, hotels, retail, or a mix), the POS and kitchen hardware per outlet, offline needs, integrations, and the company and location structure in Business Central.

  3. Build and data migration

Configuration of menus, recipes, prices and outlets, plus integrations, in agile sprints; item, recipe, customer and opening balance data mapped, cleansed and verified.

  4. Testing and training

Service scenarios tested end to end with your managers: an order from table to kitchen to payment, a stock count, a guest checkout. Then training for floor staff, kitchen and head office.

  5. Go-live and hypercare

A pilot outlet first, then the rest of the group in waves, with support close at hand after each wave.

Frequently asked questions

What is LS Central for hospitality?

It is LS Retail's software for restaurants, cafés, bars, quick service chains and hotels, which LS Retail markets as LS Central for restaurants and LS Central for hotels. It covers POS, kitchen, tables, reservations, recipes and stock, loyalty and reporting. LS Retail offers it bundled with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or connected to another ERP through CentralConnect.

Can one group run shops, restaurants and a hotel on one system?

Yes. LS Retail positions LS Central as one platform for hospitality, hotel, retail and event businesses. Its own published example is Blue Lagoon in Iceland, which runs two hotels, a spa, four restaurants, four retail stores and an online store on LS Central. For a group with both shops and food and beverage outlets, that means one item master, one loyalty programme and one set of figures in Business Central.

Does it include a hotel property management system?

Yes. LS Central for hotels covers reservations from the front desk, online and third-party channels, room rates and allotments, check-in and check-out, housekeeping status, deposits and guest accounts. LS Retail's 25.0 release (October 2024) added an integration with the Channex channel manager for rates, availability and reservations.

Do you implement it in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Yes. We are an LS Retail Gold Partner working remotely from Bucharest, in English, with clients in Europe, the UK, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. UAE VAT and ZATCA e-invoicing are configured in Business Central, the finance layer that LS Central posts to.

Have you delivered LS Central before?

Yes, in retail and pharmacy. Our published LS Central work includes LS Retail in more than 120 stores for Farmavet & Pasteur in Romania, Pharmacy for LS Central across more than 100 pharmacies in Norway for Sykehusapotekene, and the architecture and offline store sync for Sport Vision, a retailer with 700 stores in 13 countries. Hospitality runs on the same POS, replication and Business Central foundation, with the restaurant and hotel modules on top.

Does the POS keep working if the connection drops?

It can. LS Retail's documentation describes an option to run some or all POS terminals in offline mode, with master data replicated from head office to a local POS database and sales sent back when the connection returns. Some checks, such as customer validation and stock lookups, still need a live connection. Which outlets run offline is decided in solution design.
